Henna

Hi!!!!!

I havent abandoned my blog bc I am soooo thankful for those of you who have joined.... now just to let you know, I have been really busy with work and ministry. I actually have two jobs and God. I'm not overwhelmed or anything bc God comes first so I have been just getting use to my life the way it is and I will def. be doing some more posting.

So, I have started wearing my natural hair out (I was waiting for warm weather, but the hair started to break my face out...) so here are a few pics of my styles

I recently put henna in my hair. I works on natural and permed hair. It's 1005 natural and it acts as a conditioner and color. I got red... but there are so many pros to putting henna in your hair
1. color
2. conditioner
3. provides thinkness
4. strengthens hair shaft
5. provides shine
6. loosens curl pattern
7. no chemicals
i like it so far you should give it a try!
*** henna is henna no matter where you get it, its 100% natural

Solution for wet cell phone

HAPPY FEBRUARY!
This is my favorite month of the whole year! With Black History, Mardi Gras, Valentines Day, and now...... SAINTS VICTORY!!!!!! This one is going to be great.
Okay, so, I want to give you a tip that you can use for the rest of your life and I am 100% positive that it works. I have dropped my phone in water about three times and it's working better than ever. My aunt called me yesterday and said "I submerged my phone in water, i bought some rice and put my phone in.... and it's working better than it did before i put it in rice! Thanks!"
so there u have it
1. get a tightly sealed container (i use glad)
2. buy a small bag of rice and pour in container
3. take your battery out and bury it and your phone in the rice
4. leave it for about 3 days
*** Over this period, the rice will pull the water out of the phone
idk how all of this happens but it works!!!
btw... don't expect the rice to be wet when you get done

Hair Care

If you are striving to take better care of your hair then you must know that shampooing is old news!

No. I haven't gone crazy or anything and No, i don't walk around with stinky hair!

Shampoos contain silicons in them which is responsible for the soapy lather that comes when shampooing. Well, silicons (cones) strip your hair of its natural oils that are necessary for healthy hair and hair growth. If you haven't yet adopted the term Co-Wash, I'll give you a little bit of info on it.

A "Co-Wash" is simply washing your hair with ONLY conditioner. Because you have gone so many years shampooing and conditioning your hair, you may find it hard to believe that conditioner alone can cleanse hair. If you are feeling this way about "co-washing" just do some googling when you get done reading this =)

By eliminating those cones from your washes, you are on your way to healthy hair in no time. I'll give you three NATURAL alternatives to shampooing (in addition to co-washing).

ALTERNATIVE #1

natural shampoo
there are a host of natural shampoos out there that do not contain silicons, here are a couple:

Giovanni

Dr. Bronners Magic Soap

ALTERNATIVE #2

baking soda

YES

Baking soda is a natural cleanser, with it you can clean just about anything from your teeth to your hair to household things. To use: add water to make a paste, apply to hair and scalp and let sit for 15 mins (i always feel it working which lets me know when to wash). It can also be mixed in with your conditioner. Using baking soda as a cleanser should be done about twice a month.

ALTERNATIVE #3

apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is also a natural cleanser, and does the same thing for your hair as baking soda. The 2 of these can b used interchangeably, not together. To use: pour some apple cider vinegar into a spray bottle add a little water (maybe like 1/5 of whatever you have), spray on scalp and massage, let sit for approximately 15 mins and then co-wash.

Honey and Lemon Facial Cleanser

Works for me!

Ok so idk about you guys but I have experienced many hardships with acne. My first experience with acne came when I was in Jr. High School. Looking back on it, I'm not sure if I did much to treat it. The one thing I can remember using is alcohol.

Because I was young and I didn't do my research, I didn't know that rubbing alcohol was actually a terrible skin toner which irritates the skin (and bad... really bad if it gets in your eyes), it didn't do anything but dry my skin out.

Alcohol as a toner? NO!

During my high school years I didn't have as much of a problem with acne. As soon as my freshman year of college came around, so did the acne. I tried a couple of different dermatologists, proactive (WHICH BECAME VERY ADDICTIVE with unsatisfactory results), toners, washes, creams, and more. Nothing seemed to work! I felt that there was no way for me to control my acne.

NOW

I've done my research, I've began to embrace honey and lemon. There's nothing like doing things the natural way.

AM Treatment

100% Pure (unrefined) Honey

FYI: This is going to be sticky so make sure to use this when you don't have to touch your face frequently.

INFO: Honey holds anti-bacteria and healing properties. Keeping the skin wrinkle free, soft and smooth; honey has anti-oxidant properties that keep the skin healthy. In addition, it doesn't flake, dry or peel the skin like some other topical creams. Honey doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils, but it absorbs moisture.

Honey can be applied directly to breakouts to calm inflammation. It reduces sting caused by those pimples that REALLY hurt. I use honey every other day to prevent those problem pimples from showing up.

Because honey is an effective microbial agent, its sugar content allows it to prevent problem bacteria from growing, thus preventing acne.

PM Treatment

Fresh Lemon Juice

Lemon is great for getting rid of acne and red marks. Fresh lemon juice contains enzymes, acids, vitamins, and minerals which contribute to healthy skin and help to rid the skin of dead cells. Lemon juice can be used as a natural toner to help reduce oil and reduce shine on your face.

Astringent and antiseptic properties in lemon juice are responsible for clearing up excess perspiration and eliminate unwanted shine caused by high humidity (which is great for Louisianians!).

As a natural disinfectant lemon juice has been used for centuries to help prevent and treat a number of skin ailments such as: scars, acne, wrinkles, and hyper pigmentation.

Lemon cuts natural oils making it easier to wash away dirt that has built up on your face, and it also lightens dark spots on your face. After using a lemon wash, wash your face with warm water.

*Personally: it stings a bit but HEY it works and isn't harmful!! (In my book that's GETTING THE JOB DONE =D)

Price: LESS THAN 1 DOLLAR

*** In addition to honey and lemon I use a honey-oatmeal scrub 2/3 times a week and a cleanser daily
